the reverse lock out in my 85 is not working. I saw a replacement rod assembly @ the corvette clinic site. Before I pop for that anybody have any other idea
Have you confirmed which part of the assembly is not working? Is it the reverse lock out ring on the shifter that will not lift up, or is it the actual cable that runs from the shifter to the steering column (I think that is where it runs to).

No I haven't, the ring on the shifter moves so this weekend I'll check the other parts. i was just curious if there was a common problem with these shifters
The reverse lockout does not have a cable, it has a rod that goes down from the shifter. Mine was shot (85, 4+3), I used the same size threaded rod from napa, put a nut on top to adjust to the right height. It lasted 3 years till I yanked it and put in a zf6. Just take it apart slow and you will see how to put it back and make it work. I would suggest a harder rod then regular bolt stock like I used, because I could see that it was wearing. Hope this helps, Randy
Just a side note. Take off your ****, and the rod is under there.
