Default need help installing headlights

I want to install sylvania silver stars. I can get the lights half open like the manual says, but the light chimes goes off. Anyway around that or do you have to open them manually? TIA

When I changed to the same headlights last year on my 86, I opened them with the headlight ****. Doing it manually seems to take forever.

Mine had to be opened to two different angles in order to get to all the screws - I believe there are four; two accessed from under the hood and two accessed from the front (outside).

If the chime bothers you, just disconnect the battery ground cable.

I just changed mine on my 88 coupe. It was pretty easy after I figured out how to manually move them. The ***** must turn many revolutions before any movement is detected. Keep turning them until you can easily get to the retainer screws. My screws had stripped out the holes before I got it by someone turning them too far and wouldn't stop turning. I just replaced them with slightly larger stainless steel phillips heads and ss flat washers. The new lights are much brighter, best $40 investment you can make.

The trick is to pull the headlight switch on the dash, then when the headlights reache the point you'd like it to stop, push the headlight switch "IN" to the Parking Light position.

The headlights will stop moving and stay at that position; at least on my 86 is works that way (gotta always remember to add that "disclaimer", who knows what changes GM has made on different year cars)

Pull headlight switch till lights start to rotate then push in where you want them, If you push the switch close to all the way off, the parking lights will turn off with the headlights halfway turned. I played with it for a bit before i got the right angle.

Talk about lazy.
By the time you spent doing all of that, you could have turned the manual **** on the motor with a pair of tweezers and taken the screws off.

I wouldnt say using the motors to move the screws to the desired position lazy, maybe ingenius..... but then you might consider using the starter motor other than manually cranking the engine over to start it , lazy..hehehe

For safety reasons I would highly recommend disconnecting the headlight motor before getting into replacing the bulbs.

Also, the reflectors in the C4 are not that great. I noted a great improvement when I went to a Ciebe reflector.

Eh, just pull the fuse. It's easier.
