Default Headlight motor bushing question

I've read here that when your headlight motor continues to turn after the light is up or down, it means you need to replace the bushings. I read somewhere that these bushings can bought at Home Depot, item number 595609. My wife picked these up for me as a surprise today. The guy ran the part number and went and got them for her. They are small white nylon, cylinder in shape looking things that look to be about a quarter inch long. Is this correct? I was hoping to find out before tearing into the lights.

I have and nothing came up. Maybe using wrong key words. Tried headlights, headlight bushings... will keep trying

Yes, three small nylon bushings per side. Not a hard job to do at all. They basically hold the sprocket in place.

Default Links you need to look at!!!

Here is one link you should read.

Here is another link you should read.

I've have the same problem, but haven't fixed it yet. If you read these threads, you'll find some who think the home depot substitute bushings aren't as good (and won't last as long). Pics are included to support the differences.

They also mention there are complete instructions in the "How-to" section of the Corvette Fever website! I'm pretty sure this should give you everything you need.

(BTW: The reason you couldn't find the threads is because they're in the archive. You have to click the archive box to retrieve them).

Good luck on your repair!

P.S. There are "*****" on the motors that can be turned by hand. Does anyone know if this is an adjustment or just a free-wheeling part of the motor?

Just be sure not to jam them in!! If the fit is too tight, it will over time split the gear.... don't ask me how I know....But not so loose that the light will vibrate every time you hit a bump.

The **** is for rotating the motor, thus opening or closing the light in the event that the motor fails. I've used it a few times......

Thanks for the links and the search tips. I'll report back when I'm done. I'll probably try the HD surprise from the wife for the obvious as well as my own impatience. Funny how this car brings out the little boy that can't wait for anything...
