Default Question about my Exhaust??

I just bought my 93 vette, and I noticed underneath that the exhaust system is all black piping, is this stock or aftermarket exhaust? I thought the stock was stainless steel piping correct? Or did they come in black during this year?

Is it black? or black'ish?

Stock exhaust is dark, black'ish colored. If yours is black, then maybe the previous owner painted it.

I paint (hi-temp black) mine from the resonator back to the mufflers. I do it to hide the weld lines. My car is black so it looks good. Maybe that is what was done to yours...

The tips are painted black and sometimes part of the mufflers. The rest of the piping should be a silver color since it's alumunized steel, not stainless steel.

No, mine was made black, was not painted or colored, does this mean its an aftermarket system? My corvette is loud as hell, louder than my buddies camarao Z28 w/ after market exhaust. Everything else on the vette looks stock, but I cant tell if the exhaust is aftermarket or not. It is no Aluminized steel. What other exhausts come with that black piping? Also, this is my first vette, is it suppost to sound extremely loud stock? Sorry for the dumb questions, im just a newbie with this car, and I "planned" on buying full exhaust system but not if this is already on the car. The black color on the piping is a nice clean look. So 100% sure none of the vettes came with black piping? Any takers?

That's the way my original flowmasters were painted.

Let's put it this way. The stock exhause is not loud by any stretch of the imagination. Also NO questions are dumb or stupid. Why, because at one point in time we were all new to this hobby.

If your mufflers are painted black it is possible that you have a very expensive "Power Effects" exhaust system.

It would be good if you can take some photos and post them.

PS This Sunday afternoon a bunch of us will be crusing to the XXX Rootbeer stand. [Hence we call ourselves the Rootbeer Raiders and YOU'RE invited. Check out the regional board for the West Coast and look for posts that have XXX in the title Not sure where Silverdale is but if you're within a hours drive of Seattle you should join us

I'm in the process of moving my house to California, I'm out of here next month , but I will try my best to meet up with you guys this sunday, I can take my wife with me also. Other than that, I wish I would of bought this Vette sooner and got to meet you guys earlier Oh well, hopefully there are alot of vette groups over in Cali.

***I KNOW FOR DAMN SURE I'M NOT GOING TO MISS THIS DAMN WEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY GOD!!!

I buy my Vette then it rains for 30+ days.....go figure right?

There is a group that will be leaving from Tacoma. Look for Red Racer he's one of the leaders and hails from that area.

Oh by the way. You've got a C4, they don't melt in the rain. (unlike C5's) I drive mine 50 miles every day

If it's black (like it was made to be black, not painted) my first guess is this:
http://www.pacesetterexhaust.com/monza.htm#tipstyle
MONZA exhaust. From many account that I've read all stated that this system is loud.

Although my car is earlier than yours, my TPIS catback is an all black flowmaster setup. They make one for the LTxs also. With loud being such a subjective term around here, I can't comment on loudness, other than a "boaty" sound at part throttle.
