Both are a waste of money on a stock car.The intake is still a waste even if it is not stock. For a good chip tune contact Alvin a forum supporting vendor.

Since you list a cut lid and Stage II chip in your mods, I assume your response means you were disappointed.

Vader86 lists a 5-10 HP gain for the cut lid. Another poster (forgot who) confirmed a 9-10 HP gain by using a leaf blower to simulate highway-speed forced air thru his front-license intake. So, they may not be a "waste of time", but they may be low "bang for your buck" options.

It sounds like a good idea (from Vader86's webpage) to change turn-on temp for the fan (in computer) and install a lower-temp thermo. (At least if you live in a warmer climate). Who's going to burn a new chip JUST for the fan change. After reading Vader's website, exhaust mods, MAF screen removal, open air-box lid, thermo-change, and a new chip didn't sound like a waste of time. They sounded more like a necessity!

I THINK I agree!

I had PCMforless (Alvin) send a chip for my stock LT1 and I am very pleased with a noticeable performance improvement. And given that it was inexpensive and minimal labor on my part (like 15 minutes only because I am slow) no way do I think it was a waste of money.

Do a search and you'll see other folks with similar experiences using PCMforless. There are some mail-order tunes that get consistent negative reviews, however.

I also have the cut lid/K&N and I did not notice anything, but there is some data that suggests you get a little extra at WOT and high RPM. Not much money, not much HP. But on a $/HP basis probably OK. Do a search and you'll find plenty of data/opinions on this one as well!

Good luck and have fun
