2nd 1st. A dark dash with the high beam indicators illuminated is usually a ground problem and is very common with the digital dash. You can do a Search on this Forum to find links on ways to fix it.

If the tach wire is disconnected from the filter, you'll get a 00 reading.
I just had to same problem and soldering the wire back in place cured it in my case.

The wire is connected on both sides,Anyone know if they do go bad?How to check? I have done the search on the dash, I have not got it fixed yet,I have to get it up in the air to check ground on frame&bellhousing,it only does it once in a while but the tach never works.
