Default Code 64 9.1-1992 LT1

Sorry guys-I should have stated that using the on board diag.9.1 gives me a check ride control and code 64-other than changing TPS -what else could it be.

No less than one of us doesn't know what you are talking about... and I'll plead guilty. That said, what does a throttle position switch have to do with "ride control"?

Code 64 thrown by the EBCM (section 9.1 on the dash readout) is indeed listed as "Throttle Position Sicnal Fault". However none of the steps in the 1992 FSM for diognosing a Code 64 include replacing the TPS. This is why the code did not go away when you replaced the TPS.
This code is related to bad connections between the EBCM, the Throttle position sensor module, the ECM and the TPS.
I cannot type up all the steps in the FSM tonight but I can direct you to all of the connections that are mentioned and if you clean these and thecode 64 does not go away I will walk you through the process one step at a time.
By the way if you have a 1992 FSM the diognosis is on page 5E1-88 and 89.
The connections you need to check are:
1. A, B and C on the TPS
2. C-2 (gray), C-3 (dk. blue) and B-18 (black) on the ECM
3. All of the plug on contacts on the Throttle Position Sensor Module
4. #41 (lt blue/black) #8 (dk green/white) and #9 (orange/black)

If you clean all of the above thoroughly and the code 64 still comes (after clearing with section 9.7 onthe speedo) then here is the first step in the manual:
With ignition off, disconnect the Throttle Position Module (not TPS) and measure continuety with an ohmmeter between EBCM terminal 8 and Throttle Position Module (not TPS) connector (wire side) terminal B. If there is no resistance you have repair that wire between the EBCM and the Throttle Position Module. If this wire is fine we can go on to the next step.
DO NOT buy any more parts until you have diognosed this problem as the only parts that the FSM shows you MIGHT have to replace after all the tests is the Throttle Position Module (not TPS) or the EBCM.
All of the tests to diognose this problem center around bad connections in one of the connectors mentioned above or a burnt out wire in one of these circuits.
Let me know when you have completed the above tests and we can move on.
Hope this helps.
