I've never changed the track, but I have, the ribbon. I'm guessing it is a similar job. It isn't too bad. There were a couple of rivets I had to drill out, but I was able to replace them with screws and nuts.
Now would be the perfect time to upgrade to the newer style regulator and get rid of those super slow ribbon types. There is a very detailed write up in the search section. I did my 85's and I like them a whole lot better. A little bit of simple measuring and drilling a couple holes on the bottom and the rest is bolt-in.
I'm pretty sure you're going to have to remove the regulator from the car anyway to replace the ribbon. If the motor is still good and you lube the ribbon and track it might last a good while longer. It's an inexpensive fix which will get you back on the road. It's just the slow window closing that finally got to me. I just upgraded to the newer style. You can do one side at a time. You can find them use for about $75-$100 on Ebay or find them in the for sale section once in awhile. You do have to drill a hole to two in the bottom of your door and reverse the wiring to the motor, but that's it. Huge difference in performance.

Not hard but time consuming.
Look in teck tips for a list of instructions.
You can buy the ribbon at AutoZone in the HELP section. Its listed for a Chrysler product but has the same general profile and is about 30 bucks less! I used this one and it has worked perfect for two years
