Default Vortex SC or Procharger??

For my car, its stock, which is better? A procharger or vortex? I just want one that I can bolt on and not have to buy any other aftermarket parts. From what I can tell, these will bolt onto the stock engine and not harm the car running 8psi correct?

Can I have any opinions about this please, and the pro's and cons. Also, any personal experiences would be nice. Would I notice a tremendous difference in 1/4 mile times?

Well this is just my opinion from my supercharging my old mustang - but if it were my LT1 - Vortech (from Blowerworks.com).

Their kits are always a perfect fit, whereas the ATI kit always needs some fabrication. Also, changing the oil in the self-contained procharger units can be a pain in the rear, but Vortech uses filtered engine oil - so whenever you do an oil change, your s/c oil is freshened.

Go to the C5 forced induction forum...... you'll see 2 tuners (ECS and A&A) that stopped doing business with ATI, and ditched the ATI head units for their kits and now use Paxton (owned by Vortech) and Vortech head units, exclusively.

ATI business dealings, and customer service leave a lot to be desired.

I agree, you need to talk to Greg before you purchase. If not you will end up spending a lot more money and talking to him anyway. May as well do it right the first time and not damage your engine.

streetvette,

In addition to what ever supercharger you buy, if you plan on tuning it there is software you need to buy, gauges to add to monitor things.

An off the shelf Vortech would give you 6-8 pounds of boost so you would get about 425 hp or about a 125 HP increase.

If you are planning on occasionally stomping on it, then you would probably be ok, but trust me the quest for power is intoxicating...

All that to say that if you are expecting to only spend 6K and have a turn key solution plan on about another 2-3K for guages, software, injectors, fuel pumps, alcohol injection systems all of that stuff....

Your probably good for about a second or so faster in the quarter mile.

Hope this helps,

Mo
