Can MEM_CAL be cause for no codes???
I have a Moates GU1 with a chip that has worked in the past. The original mem-cal is riding sidesadle. As I recall, the Moates Adapter is not keyed to the old mem-cal. It could be backword I guess. HAs anyone heard of this problem before?? Another possiability is a bad connection at the ECM connectors. How does one check these connectors to determin they are in fact, connected?

If you are using a Moates adapter the car will run terrible if the adapater and the prom are inserted incorrectly. Also with the Moates adapter the OE memcal needs to be plugged in onto the adapter board. With the OE memcal attached the adapter and the memcal can only go into the ECM one way. If your ECM is not flashing 12 try removing the chip and adapter completely and turn the ignition on, that should set a prom error fault which is something like code 51 or 52
I removed the memcal from the ECM and shorted A to B at the ALDL, turned on the key, and it made no difference. That is, the SES light stayed on steady. No flashing at all. All tracing and trobule shooting flow charts now seem to point to the connectors at the ecm but I'm don't know if I can damage anything by probing all the contacts.
