Default Rear Pad Dimension

Does anyone know the pad thickness dimension from the bottom of the backing plate to the top of the pad. I just finished the rear pad installation from hell using KFP Purple racing pads. The rotor was used, so dimensionally thinner. I cracked the bleeder and pushed the piston back as far as I could. Parking brake is off and the fit is so tight I had to hammer the caliper in place. The pads fit in the slots perfectly. It was still so tight I could not line up and tighten the bolt. Now this is the good part. I start the engine, put it in reverse and machine fit the pads. Now it fits. It seems like the most important tool I have is a hammer; if you read my previous post on my front brakes; I needed a hammer and chisel to pry them off the rotor after trashing them at Laguna Seca.

I'm sure there's some more room for movement in the pistons. If they slack up after using them once, and you can turn the rotor by hand, you're good.

I had the bleeder open and forced it back with a c clamp as far as I thought it would go. I wonder if the piston is sticking? This happened on both calipers. The last four or five times I did this job, it took me 15 minutes per side; but I am getting good with the hammer.
