Default HELP! I need extensive ac up-grade info!

I need to get VERY detailed info on re-installing the air conditioning system back onto my 1987 Corvette.

I am trying to get an Ecklers up-date kit to work on my car but finding a few things different. Since i bought this kit in 02 Ecklers has refused to acknowledged any of my questions to them recently. Unfortunately I think that they may have sent me the wrong AC compressor back when.
It appears completely identical EXCEPT in the orifices for the attachment of the hoses. My old one has 2 holes under the plate about 1/2inch diameter with with o-rings set in grooves about 1/8" out from them. The new one has much larger holes(about 7/8" diam.) and look like they are surfaced to have some-thing pressed into them...but nothing close to that size came with the kit. I am also stumped by the large number of O-rings that did come with the "kit" since none of them seem to have a good tight fit on any of the lines on my car. How are these o-rings supposed to fit? how do i tell which goes where? Are there any detailed assembly manuals out there since my 87 factory manuals don't give much detail?
Our local dealer won't even look at the car because it is "too old", and I can not find any local shops that have done any up-grades to R-134a so all of them say no also.
It seems to me that 85 to 87 are almost the same in the ac department except that some 87s have the computerised climate control(mine dosn't!) If any-one out there has attempted this up-grade PLEASE HELP! I would just by-pass the AC to gain more power but between June and Sept. we average 50+ days above 100degrees and I can't handle any-thing over 80.
Thank-you all for being here.

This pic might explain more about my problem.

Default A long lost friend!

MALCOM!

Where have you been...email me at todd_vette@hotmail.com
it would be good to hear from you.
You were the one that said I needed a different filter...PLEASE fill me in.
I finnaly found a guy at Kenworth(yeah, semis) who got me the right o-rings and fillers for the compresor conection. I am still dumb-founded by the fact that none of the o-rings seem to realy fit the hose ends and he had no other ideas???

I have finnaly finnished the house mess (Sort-of) and am trying to peice this monster back together. Right now I am doing up the body...Did you know that your nose is wider than mine? It is realy making it hard to get the hood gap right. I have a thousand peices laying around and after about 4years not working on it I don't remember ANY-THING! I will probably be lurking around here alot over the next few months.
Do you remember how to determine the gear ratio if it isn't marked? I know that you turn the wheel end once and count the turns of the in-put yolk but is it exact or do you have to multiply by some number or another formula? The 88 one that i got turns a little bit over 2.5 but the guy i got it from swears it has 4.11 gears??? I think it is a stock automatic 2.59??? but what do i know, he had it in a street rod truck?
Take care and keep in touch.
