Default Nasty ping...need advice

The other day my 95 LT-1 has started to ping badly during acceleration. The water temp hasn't been sitting at 190 degrees like normal it rambles around more now and seems to climb quickly with engine load. Never got over 220 yet, but the weather is just warming up this week.
I monitored the PCM with PCMcomm and it say the engine is knocking lots (thousands of counts per throttle stab), the timing is being retarded when this happens.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

Gordon

You may have plugged catalytic converter or converters. It could also be a bad EGR valve.
