'96 Valve Cover Gaskets
I'm thinking of replacing the gaskets on my leaking valve covers. I read through the shop manual and it seems pretty straight forward. Can anybody give me a heads-up on possible trouble spots to lookout for? Also, a Torks 45 wrench seems a little loose in the cover bolts. Is that normal or do I have the wrong tool?
Thanks

The gaskets will stay in the valve cover channel just fine and will seal without issue. The driver's side vavlve cover is a bit of a pain to get off because of the alternator. You can approach it one of two ways....
- Remove the alternator entirely (best way) or
- Remove the bolt that secures the bracket to the back of the alternator, remove the outboard alternator bolt (that secures it to the aluminum accessory bracket) and loosen the other bolt that secures the alternator to the bracket. Wrap a big screw driver in a towel (to prevent marring) and rotate the alternator upwards. With the alternator rotated out of the way, remove the valve cover.
Not to be a smart a$$, but if the T45 seems loose, try the next size. If it's too big then the T45 is the one to use.
