Default Sequential FI for the L98s?

Does anyone know if there is a conversion kit or something to transition to SFI on the earlier L98s? I have an 85

You'd need more sensors than your wiring harness is set up for and more than your ECM can handle. It could be done, but it'd be a lot of work switching harnesses, adding sensors & programming the whole thing.

Are the LTx motors SFI? If so he could probably so some "fitting".... if not go with a holley 950 commander type setup (cheaper).... it really wouldn't be too cheap for any aftermarket SFI setup though... especially if you go the F.A.S.T. or BigStuff route. Also, you aren't going to get any benifits by going to SFI over a bank to bank type setup unless you really need the added engine management abilities for a radical setup. In my opinion it isn't worth the $ unless you just want it to have it. My $.02

I run a sequential set-up. It is a FAST with a wbO2 output. Unless you had the need for an aftermarket ECM, I really would not go through the effort at $2,600.

No reason to do that unless youve really modified things so much that the ECM cant properly handle the motor. Its just too expensive.

I spoke extensively with accel DFI designers about this and as they put it the sequential does virtually NOTHING in the way of WOT performance. If you can imagine at 4K+ RPMs the cylinders are firing so quick, the slight lead time from the point of a batch fire, to that valve opening is so small, there are no ill effects.

As for driveability - there can me some benefits of sequential for this aspect. Individual ability to tweak each injector differently can lead to better idle and driveability. While that sounds like a great benefit and perhaps makes the system worth while, you have to ask yourself a very simple question: How are going to measure how much you need to change the injectors by? Unless you put a bung in each primary or have a WB02 in each one, you have no way to tell how much to change these by. Also for every one you change, you just effected the VE (volumetric efficiency) for the rest so you have to go back and verify the already adjusted ones are still where you want them.

In the nutshell - the benefits really are not worth the cost and hassle to do. All the aftermarket ECM offer this option to the users so its possible. You will need to get a new distributer to give a cam sync signal so the ECM knows where its at and when to fire that injector.

Again though, I would not look for the change to change your performance/driveability any staggering amount.

Jsut some more food for thought is the good many race type cars, superstock, etc cars still rely on carbs to supply their fuel. In terms of fuel pooling or fuel falling out of suspension, and laminar buildup - that type of fuel delivery, which is VERY VERY effective, is also very crude in comparison. So again, its something you have to ask yourself - why go to the trouble. The concept is very "good" - but when weighing up the gains, the cost far outweights the benefits.
