standard is just not for me . Is there anyway to convert a standard to an auto? Or am I gonna have to sell the car and buy a different one?
By the way it's a '94
if you do the swap I am interested in buying the parts you have left over. , like the trans, shifter, cluthc, everything, I have an auto I am considering changing over to stick. Pm me
If you do all of the work yourself, and used good used parts, I would think 2. If you want to drive to a shop, toss them the keys and pick it up in a week, I would think 4 or better.
If you go with a 4l60e, you will need the wiring harness and computer, but if you go with the 4l60, you can get away with just a lock up switch from tci which is about 40 bucks.

I live in Houston, TX and my vette has about 107k on it
I called a few transmission shops and a few refused to touch my vette. One of them said he could do it but it may lead to mechanical problems. So can it really be done or do these ppl really know what they are talking about?
First, I think a manual ==> auto is easier than the auto ==> manual conversion. One of the main problems with the swap will be the tranny tunnel where the shifter is located in the cockpit. You would most certainly need to fabricate a custom mounting plate over your old manual shifter hole, seal it up, and use an aftermarket shifter of your choice that would mount on this custom plate. This is really easier than it sounds. I made an adapter plate for automatic C4's that allows damn near any aftermarket shifter to be used in the C4. I was using a B&M Magnum Grip Pro stick and it fit perfectly in the stock auto center console plastic cover with no modifications.
You do not have to get a 4L60E transmission (computer controlled) but I THINK that your 94 computer module can be programed to control the 4L60E (not completely sure though). You can get 700R4's that are just as strong/stronger than the 4L60e is if you wish BUT the LT1/LT4's do not have provisions for a transmission kickdown cable (in other words, you would have to manually shift the transmission).
Who ever you swap with, make sure you swap the brake/clutch pedal assembly and stall converter as well. I may be willing to swap if you are interrested but keep in mind my tranny is NOT stock and lets you know when it shifts. lol The 1900 RPM stall converter would come with it too. PM me if interrested. and good luck with what ever you do.
Forgot to mention that you will need to rewire the reverse light switch and some other small stuff... you will also not have the automatic start "protection" features like no starting in Drive etc. I would also suggest that you sell/trade you car for an auto unless you REALLY are going to keep your car for ever and ever because the value of an auto conversion car is probably different than a true auto car. BUT, if you do swap it you will have a better performance gear ratio because your car WAS a 6 speed... no airplane gears. lol
