Default 4+3shifter question ALSO sensor fitting question

I posted this in general, with no luck, so hopefully someone that frequents here may know....

Can someone with a 4+3 tell me how the shift lever tabs on the trans are arranged? Is the bigger one on the front or middle? The reverse one is fine(farthest back)
I cannot get the car to go into Neutral in any forward gear. From Reverse to Neutral is fine. I can get all the gears fine but it will not settle into neutral.
Before I go trying to adjust rods, I need to know if I have the tbas on correctly. I have tried searchs for pics but come up empty.

Also. Does anyone know where I can find the harness connectors? Mainly for the mushroom shaped connector for the sensor on the passenger side head. The guy that redid my harness put on a spade terminal when I needed the knock sensor type connector.

Thank You for any info.

There should be some info here if you try a search but I just adjusted mine and it came out better than I could imagine. The Helms book will tell you to use an alignment tool that slides in at the base of the shifter. But I did the following : 1) remove the longest rod(most forward) at the tranny (3-4) . just to get it out of the way.
2) loosen the two adjusting nuts on the second most forward rod(1-2) but leave it hooked up to the tranny
3) have someone slide the shifter back and forth in neutral while you adjust the rod with the nuts until your helper can move it smoothly without hitting. Tighten both nuts and check again
4) Replace the 3-4 rod and do the same as above.
I did mine without a helper and it still worked but it was a lot of up and down to get it right.

I put this off for a long time because I was a little intimidated by the whole deal but it really was pretty easy.

Side note, if you can put your car in reverse without pulling up on your shifter then your reverse lockout rod is screwed up. I replaced mine with a 1/8" ss rod from the hardware store and cut it to the correct length and now all thoughts of doing a 6spd swap are in the past. It's fun to drive again!!

I guess I should have read your post a little better..... the longer tab is the 1-2 or miidle one. I'll try to scan a pic from my manual if I can figure it out...

AWSOME!!! That pic was exactly what I needed. Atleast I know the rods are backwards so I can swap them. I didnt want to crawl back under screw with them just to find out they were right & the linkage was off.

I finally ordered the helms. So I can stop asking these dumb*** questions.

Thank You.

I am sure I have seen the connector you speak of in the Ecklers and similar catalogues , has a pigtail to splice to.

COOL, I went to search their catalog. Went to the C4 parts section & nothing came up. Then I was like..humm, how about electrical. Low & behold there it was.
Thank You.

Here is something I drew up awhile back for fabbing a gauge. Hope it helps.
