Took my 95 C4 auto in for a new O2 sensor a while back.
It smelled like burning plastic for a while afterwards, no smoke or problems. Aftermarket sensor went south in 1200 miles, took it back for a GM replacement. Now I noticed today- no kickdown action.
Sound like a roasted harness or something?

Sure Does, or the vette gremlins were roasting mashmellows on your cats.
Have you actually got under the car to look and see what is going on ? I would look at the exhaust and all the wires running near it and see if anything got loose and melted.

Not yet, just noticed it yesterday.
Obviously I am not driving it like I should!

Anyone happen to know offhand how the kickdown works on a 95 auto?
Is it operated from the main transmission harness?
I smell $$$ as well as burning plastic.

Your '95 has an electronic trans. and so like the engine, most functions are controlled by the PCM.
