Slow is the word when adding HP. It's going to take alot of little things to add up to some real horsepower. Exhaust is an easy place to start, headers and catback.
If your really interested in removing the air pump, here is some info on one i built for my car. There is no HP added, but it does clean up the engine bay and make working in there a bit easier.
