Solid roller lifters vs Knock sensor?
I´m planning to drive the new 355 with a solid lifter setup, i will use a custom camshaft with solid rollerlifters and Comps 1.6 Pro Magnum Rocker Arms. I previosly drove with hydraulic but this new engine is gonna run with such high Rp/m´s that i will not risk breaking the hydraulic lifters.
But my question is.. Will my knock sensor for the 1227730 ecm detect the small noise that the valvetrain makes and retard my ignition? I heard that the newer knock sensors didn´t catch that noise like the old ones did?
Thanks

Sweden.
But to answer your question, yes they will most certainly will pick up the solid cam and retard timing.
not real sure but i would think some type of aftermarket programming could help.
After a little research i found out that i can reprogram the Ecu so it just indicates the signal from the knock sensor but don´t retard the timing. Sounds good to me. Sure hope that the wb-lambda and exhaust temp sensors is enough to get the engine propertly tuned.
I heard that the knock sensor was mostly an insurace for the car manufactures and not so good to use on a highly modified engine.
