Default Note on todays x-pipe install. - update.

Well...its not on the ground just yet. Right now it is welded up as good as possible (pretty close to all of it) and I'll be getting some welding apoxy tomorrow morning to get the little bit on the top of the pipes that can't be reached (all done with the exhaust attached). - - - However... to get the Magnaflow 3" x-pipe to fit at all (width/pipes to line up) - a good strip had to be cut out and the case welded back together. It seems like the new center size should be fine... will see how it performs tomorrow and I will update.... As for sound.. it doesn't seem much louder (if at all) than with the resonator (yet hard to judge w/o driving it)... Though it does sound better (more rasp and race than the mellow tone I had with the resonator in place). BTW - this is on a 95 that already had gutted cats and Flowmaster Super 40s.. - - - I really don't understand why so many people find Flowmasters to be loud when I still consider the car rather quiet (not much over stock volume). There is nothing left in the way of the exhaust flow. I guess if I ever want to hear the car from inside the vehicle I'll be doing LTs (what a PITA) or chopping the mufflers off (rather not). - - - On a side note...will the hotcam set-up (RRs,cam etc.) make much difference in the exhaust tone?? That may very well be next winters project. I'll be posting tomorrow with my update on performance - have a good night

Update: - So far it sounds like a on the performance increase. However - the temperatures have been weird lately and it is fairly cold now. So I can't really tell just yet if it is the x-pipe or temperature that is the biggest boost. - Definitely seems to have more low RPM torque though (even pulls real well in 5th on the highway). - But the sound is still the same from inside the car and no louder than with the resonator. Yet it does have a better tone outside the vehicle as mentioned above. - - -also note that the resonance now occurs at 1800 instead of 1400-1600. So it resonates on the highway in 6th up to 79MPH - fine at 80. I usually drive 80-85 anyway (and people still fly by me )... I'll have to see if I can get a camera under the car to take a picture of the install..
