About 2 weeks ago, I overfilled my tranny by about a quart. I have brought it down to about a 1/2 quart over now.
But, the tranny started giving be trouble a week ago, first it started by not shifting on its own from 1st to 2nd. I have to let up on the gas for it to shift. And yesterday and today, I started out normally from a light and let up on the gas for it to shift and all of a sudden I lost all my forward gears. I pulled over and shifted to reverse and back to drive and I had no problems, this happened both days when the tranny was cold.
Is the tranny dieing or is my govenor going south?
I would yank and inspect the governor. The plastic gear chunks up occasionally. Also worn clutch material gets lodged in the gov valve. You have the right Idea. I would start there if I were you.
