Won't Start, Need Help
This is what I have newly installed headers, new plugs.
I had removed all my spark plug wires when doing the installation and was very careful in putting them back. I never removed them from the distributor cap and have triple checked my firing order. The only vac lines I removed were the brake booster which connects to the intake manifold through this black cyl thing (sorry but I do not know the proper name). I naturally had to remove the vac line from the air cleaner to the right side tb.
Now, the headers I have do have the A.I.R injection and I did reconnect them back up to the air pump. The air pump divert valve? (think this is what it is called) is not connected to the cat. This has been left open, do I have to plug it?
Once I put it back together I started to try and start it up : it turns over nice an smooth and its getting fuel. I did notice that the butterfly's in the Air cleaner used to close upon starting now they don't. I'm assuming I have a vac problem. I went back to double check my lines and they are all tight and secure, no cracks either. Whatever this is I'm sure its simple and I'm just overlooking it. I want to mention to that I did replace the plugs and gapped them at 0.45.
What do you think? Thanks guys
Put a timing light in the spark plug wires to see if you have spark. If you do not have a timing light then pull the wire and stick a screwdriver in the boot and hild it next to the exhaust manifold bolt head to see if you have spark.
