Use PKE as control circuit for pushbutton start?
Basically, that car has no key, just a remote fob that is picked up by the CPU. When the CPU detects the fob, the car can crank or run like a typical ignition switch. If the brake is depressed, push the button and the car cranks over and starts. No brake, the car goes into run/accessory.
Anyway, it seems like my 95's PKE circuit could be used as a control to set up a similar deal on my vette. I was thinking I could use a VATS eliminator to facilitate removing the key, and then jumpering the ignition switch and installing a button somewhere else. I was thinking of a 3 way sort of button, push it all the way down to crank, and just halfway down to run.
I was hoping that by using the PKE as a control circuit I could still have all the benefits of a security system so the car couldn't be easy hotwired.
I don't know how crazy an undertaking this may be, and my electrical experience is limited, but present. I was wondering if anyone else ever had this idea or if anyone ever executed it.
I'd love to hear some ideas/feedback.
