'84 Hesitation
I have an '84 automatic. When I am in second or drive 1 (3rd) the car seems to hesitate and surge continualy. Is there an exisitng thread covering the subject or does anyone have an idea what it could be?

First, check for codes. Follow the trouble shooting chart(s) in your factory service manual to track, test and cure, each of those codes. Once that is done or if there are no codes, try disconnecting the vacuum hose at the EGR valve, and plugging the hose. Go for a ride and see if the surging isn't better or gone.
