I installed a different motor in my 85, and the transmission held up just long enough for me to break in the motor, then get a few runs on it. Slipping pretty bad now, especially 2-3. I've talked to a few people that say it's not that difficult to rebuild an auto, but I've never attempted it.
Has anyone here tried it?
Re: Is rebuilding auto trans that difficult? (Cruz 86)
Cruz, I had done a search earlier and didn't bring up much, but I just found the one you had posted. I guess I'm not using the new search page correctly.
Thanks for the info. It'll give me something to think about.

I just looked at your modem with our DOCSIS tool, you may have a cable problem, specifically a reverse problem. I would place a service call. Does your cable light go out at all on your modem? Do you have a digital box? If you do, there are some test you can do that will tell help confirm/deny any problem.

I have looked many times at the service manual about my trans. I admit it is over my head. Especially when it keeps refering to special tools, that I don't have. I have seen several disassebled and it doesn't look that hard when an expert is doing it from memory. http://www.Levelten.com has a great website about this as well as a specific manual for do it yourselfers. After reading it, I left it to the experts again. too many moving parts to make a wrong decision.

Lol... have you done one aqua??
I was just giving Canyon a hard time for wimping out on the trans. We exchanged emails a while back when he was thinking about doing it himself. He's done quite well with the whole motor/trans thing considering he was just getting into this stuff about three months ago when he discovered the motor needed help.
As for automatics, I have rebuilt (2) THM350, THM400, and a C4.
