Sheesh, I've only had this car for three days and both windows and the radio won't work now. The radio has power and lights up but there just aint any sound coming from it. Even if these can't be fixed right away, I still love swinging her tail out in turns :blueangel:.
I've got the fuse out of my 85 right now that feeds power to the stereo and power door locks due to an electrical problem that I've narrowed down to either the stereo or the amps in the speakers and was draining my battery. The clock still lights up on the stereo because it does have a constant source of power to keep the clock happy when you turn off the ignition. My power windows are on a different circuit though and still work. It could be worse.....you could be trying to decide whether to try and rebuild your tranny yourself or pay to have it done like I am having to do....... :(
The pwr windows and the radio are on their own circuits and it is a coincidence that both stopped working at the same time. The power windows have a circuit breaker (30 amps) and each window motor has a built in circuit breaker.
See if you have 12 volts on the pink wire at the window sw and then if you have 12 v on the brown (RH dr sw in down) and RH grn (up), then LH brown in down and RH dark blue in up. If you do have 12v in all places, then you will have to go into the doors to see if 12 v is getting to the motors. Check the radio fuse in the fuse block at the front of the RH door frame. Good Luck.
Heres a better description of my prob: Both switches do not work on both sides and for the radio, there is static from the speakers and it function well except not playing any music. I checked the fuses in the fuse box and they all looked fine. Im in the proess of checking the voltage in the driver's side. For the passenger's side, how do I get the panel off to get to the wires?
Can't help you with the windows. Is your radio system a Bose? If so, there is a relay on the driver's side dash which most likely went bad. It is mounted on the aluminum frame closer to the center console. It is a b**ch to get to. Because it doesn't have to be grounded, I have seen quick fixes where you reach up to the relay, after taking the passenger side lower cover off, feeling for the relay, unplugging it, and plugging the new one in without mounting it or removing the old relay.
Check the window up/dn switches for 12 v first to avoid taking the door panel off. I can't tell you how the door panel comes off, but it should be obvious just looking for the mounting screws and taking the lock **** off. Maybe some member can describe how to take the panel off.
