I did not mean for my post to sound like a Scat bash. I would buy their stuff again, possibly. I would be better prepared for the possible problems. One other thing to mike immediately is the diameter of the front snout that holds the damper on. I have seen 2 that were too small and the balancer slipped right on by hand. Eagle made 1 and Scat made the other. All manufacturers will do nothing for you after the fact. Even if the problem is clearly their negligence. When it come to speed parts, buyer beware.
I found that my balancer snout was too large. I just attributed it to the new crank and the new balancer not co-existing together. both measure within tolerances. Later on in life I found that the back of the crank's was too small for the transmission roller bearing thingy (Its late and I need drugs).
Having said that, the 383 cast crank survived two motor blow-ups where the pistons severely detenated/melted and disappeared.

I had the opposite thing happen on an Eagle. Went to put the balancer on and it slipped on by hand. It was a couple of thousanths too small This was after balancing and fine tuning the brand new crank. Eagle said I should have checked it before balancing. That is when I became a scat customer. I do check every possible part of a crank now, as soon as it comes out of the box.
They are made in China but finish machining is done in the US from what I understand. Funny thing is a Scat 9000 ($200)cast nodualr crank is reportedly stronger than the GM steel crank ($6-700)
