Driving home from work today and the car went dead on the freeway; all electrics other than lights went dead. Couldn’t start it again, starter motor didn't turn over, LCD display blank etc. Towed home. I suspect it is the ignition switch. Has anyone had similar problems?
Check voltage at the battery with a volt meter. If the alternator went bad the car would run off the battery until it did not have enough power left in it to run the car.

If the headlights still open and light up......
There are several fuseable links under the battery.
Most likely one of these has opened up.
They look like big peices of wire. Can find replacements at any auto store.
Pull the driver side gill cover to get to them.
Check them with an ohmmeter on the volts scale.
Or disconnect the battery and check them on the ohms scale.
yes its the fuseable lnik, youll have to remove the battery and test each one, most likely you can find it by using A voltmeter on ohm where you touch the meters wire to gether and hear a beep. plasce the points into the wire on each side the black rubber fuse link and when you fail to get a beep replace that link.
