Does anyone know who makes the sythn oil for Wally World. Great price for 5 qts. Just $12.48. It seems to pass all the test Mobil1 does. I will continue to use Mobil1 in the Vette but would like to try this in my other daily driven cars.
Walmart's regular oil is made by Valvoline, so I wouldn't think it would be too far of a stretch to think their synthetic is probably made by them too....but don't get me lying...I haven't a clue.

this subject has been raised before. i seem to remember an apparently knowledgable person saying that it was not the same grade synthetic as mobil. that being said, i just bought a 5 quart bottle the other night for $12. i ain't gonna run it for more than 1500 miles--so i don't care.

Since some guys still use dino oil in their cars and any synthetic is better for a vette than that it is a good value. The quality of the synthetic is based on the base stock some are slightly better than others but still must meet requirements to be called "synthetic".It would be intersting to read the complete spec sheet on this oil but I bet it is a low to mid grade synth and should be no problem in your car as all oils need to be changed regularly.I guess it is something like "extra virgin" olive oil vs regular olive oil. Both are what they are but one is a little better in the spec sheet.

I have not heard any bad reports about it. I use it in my `05 Sentra, & would not have any problems using it in the `Vette. They are both cars, after all.

Not a bad price for synthetic. I use castrol 20W-50 on my vette with
84k miles. I once used synthetic, but since i use it as a daily driver i am always ontop of my oil changes. Besides i really didn't feel or see anything diffrent when using sythetic over regualer oil. Maybe a drop in 2-5 degrees(oil temp)
I see that you guys use mobil1 on your vettes. Any opinions on Castrol?
I have been using it for much time and the prices are good as well compared to royal purple.... ect.

Royal,Amsoil and M1 are PAO synthetics and are top of the line. Some will say one is better than the other but they are all pretty close. Most others use a poorer base stock. That is not to say it is bad stuff just not as good as the big 3 and better than Synth blends which are better than dyno oil.Which Castrol?synth or blend?Especially with LT1s synth is needed due to higher operating temps.Of course I am sure some will disagree but that is my take on oil.

I don't know if this is true, but...
I was told by a mechanic friend of mine that he went to a mechanic's class and was taught about oil; The different weights, brands, etc., and learned that Castrol was rated near the bottom. My friend said many oils were tested and Castrol did not fare well. He said Shell and Royal Purple scored near the top.
Take the above for what it's worth. I have no first-hand knowledge of what's written above and I'm simply repeating what he told me and he had no reason to lie.
