Default What would happen?

I was wondering what possible damage would result if by mistake the engine was cranked with the ALDL pins jumped for code readout?
This is a 95 LT1?
I have been trying for months to remedy a no spark condition. I have changed opti, icm, coil, plug and wires. Still no spark. I do remember cranking the engine once with the pins jumped.
I do have the reference voltage at the opti, I do have voltage to the coil. I don't know where to look next? I should mention I am trying to start the engine "briefly" without the waterpump on yet. To make sure the opti replacement was a sucess. I do have the shop manuals. And have read an reread everything I can think of related to the no spark condition.
Here is the million dollar question....Is there anyway to check while cranking the engine (without a tech 1 or ocilliscope) for the low res, and high res, pulses from the opti?
Thanks for your input
Dave

Not sure about the hybred obd I/obd II systems, but on the old 12 pin obd I's it wasn't supposed to harm the ECM or systems. I've done it on my 85 IROC in the past without ill effect.

On my ODB I car I used to short the pins together and get codes out that would go away when I shut the key off.
