Does anyone know if there is one available? Has anyone made one themselves? Looks tricky. Where could I research for roll bar requirements? Thanks a pile for your help.
I would like to attend some of the NASA driving schools at Sebring. My Cobra club is also doing a track event at Gainsville raceway in October. So, basically road racing/open track events.
Most sanctioning bodies, NHRA, SSC will allow C4's with the FACTORY hardtop, with the factory side braces, to run the same as the coupes. This route is a good one to pursue, as it doesn't require body modification, and the top comes off pretty easily. ( Kinda looks cool for a change of looks too).
A good one can be found if you look hard anywhere from $600-1000. MIght be worth your while to check out.
I could not find anyone that could/would put a NHRA 5 point rollbar in my convertible, hence the purchase of the coupe. I was too fast for just the hardtop option, but that got me through for a while. It is the best option for open track events and the occasional drag strip unless you are faster than 11.99. You can find used ones for around $1000.
I viewed all the rollbar pics you guys have, I thought the rear down tubes had to be at a less steep angle.
I was just reading about a rollbar install and a lot of differnt things were mentioned about height, distance to head and angles of the bar.
Gatorac, Exotic Muscle rollbar is not NHRA approved. Rear down tubes are too low below the main hoop, main hoop is not wider than drivers sholders, no front side bar. I ordered a rollbar from them and then had to send it back because it was not nhra approved.
I'm not really worried about NHRA approval. I plan on doing some of the NASA driving schools. I'll see where that takes me. If I really get serious about it I'll probably get a ZR-1.
