I found an Auto Xray model XP240. I am wondering what it's capabilities are (simple code scanner or data logging capabilities). Will be used primarily on 1988 Corvette and 1993 Suburban. Anybody have any experience with this model.
I did a quick google search, and it appears to be a GM or Ford or Chrysler-specific OBD scanner. I imagine it won't work on 1994+ GM vehicles, so you could always just use a paperclip instead as far as getting codes.
I'm not sure if it has data logging capabilities. But it seems like maybe it can scan data?
You could always contact AutoXray and ask them what it does:
I have a auto xray but Im not sure the model. The one I purchased about 5 years ago, came with cables for many cars. Ford, chrysler, gm, imports, both odb1 and 2. That in itself is the advantage to this kit. Also you can monitor sensors, or any readings that the computer is sending back, ie. TC lockup, speed, temps, o2 outputs etc. The big drawback is datalogging. Its only capable of 15sec of datalogging at 2 flashes per second. With datamaster and a laptop you can log 10flashes per sec. for a long time, at least 40min.
Been seriously thinking about buying a scanner-one that data logs-
haven't checked prices yet-and I guess I'd have to get a laptop-are
they good at pinpointing problems??? any recommendations?
