I am getting ready to have my '87 inspected for another year of driving enjoyment here in Western PA. It has 42K miles on it and I always used AC Delco replacement parts. My concern is its brakes. Any preventative maintenance that would you recommend. It has passed the last 4 inspections only once needing to replace the front pads. The rear pads will be replaced if my mechanic thinks its needed.
It stops fine but something feels peculiar. I just have a feeling that it should brake firmer. I am going to ask my mechanic to flush the brake fluid,to check the rear calipers, and the vacuum booster (hope that's the correct term). The rotors are fine but is there a way to tell if a caliper may be suspect other than it freezing.
My Corvette is driven to local cruises and speed limits. Well, maybe once in awhile I'll exceed it on the highway to blow out the carbon. I only put about 1,500 miles a year on it as it is my pleasure vehicle.
Any recommendations from other C4 owners who have the same thoughts and experiences. Thank you in advance.
