cut two pieces of 1 x 8 ( really 3/4 x 7-1/2) board same lenght as tire diameter...lay the boards long side on ground , leaning squarely against tire at about 45*...now you can easily measure both ends, as long as you are reasonably gentle the boards won't move

If you're only lowering an inch or so, probably nothing to worry about. You'll gain a tad of negative camber but that's a good thing on these cars. Chalk line your tires and get an accurate before and after measurement of toe, but that's not likely to change enough to matter either. Still, I'd be more concerned with any possible changes there than with the camber.

It depends on what you're doing and if you know what you're doing. It's also possible to do a precise four wheel alignment at home, with no special equipment, if you want to take the time.
Other way round. My factory stock Z51 is so low at the front can hardly get fingers between guard and wheel whereas most stock Vettes have a couple of inches.

I'd love to do my own alignment as I autox and am alway tweaking stuff & like to try different aligns.
Do you have a link to a do it yourself align. place?

I used to have a link for that saved but I think it's one of many that AOL decided I didn't need anymore. Anyhow, I have a caster and camber gauge which makes it even easier. They're not that much. If you have one, it's real easy to put things back where they were before you took them apart. The toe is just a matter of accurate measuring.
