My LT4 has been acting a little weird in the mornings when it has not warmed up. It's almost like the choke was sticking or something. Anyway, today I was driving along and I punched it and it went dead and started spuddering and then totally died. I got out, loosened the gas cap and gave it a go and it reluctanly started, ran an errand and on my way home I punched it again and the same thing. I managed to get it started again. After it cooled down I decided to take it out for a spin and see if I could blow whatever it was out of it. It was spuddering quite a bit and running really rough and then it died and now I can't get to start at all. It runs for a second, if you can call it that. It sounds terrible for the few seconds that it does run. I am thinking dirty fuel filter or bad fuel pump. The fuel filter is only about 15-20K miles old though. Any suggestions would be great. What else could it be and about how much to fix? Thanks in advance!
Are you getting popping in the intake? If so, it sounds like a fuel pump. I replaced the filter and relay, but the pump would die and I'd get a few seconds of a sputtering and poping "running" but it would eventually just die.
That pretty much sums it up. It is making some random noises out of the pipes too. I was thinking that it was the fuel pump also. Do you have any idea what that will cost?
I think it's $89 from Ecklers or Mid America. I got one at a junk yard  . So, I may be getting a visit from the fuel pump fairy again soon, oh well. It was only $20, I'm cheap, what can I say.
Corvettes of Dallas was were I bought the pump for my 86, think it was about same as Ecklers etall about $90 and it was in stock for immediate delivery. Very easy to change, 45 minutes tops.
