I own a 94 43000 miles. I had a mechanic replace the optispark, water pump, plug wires and plugs......yuk!!!!!!! Now I am having problems starting the car. It cranks and cranks and then it just barely fires. I also notice smoke from the exhast when it finally ignites. Please tell me this is not related to the optispark. Just spent $1000 to get it fixed. The mechanic put in a optispark distributor cap and rotor kit in it. :cry :(
Does it happen when the engine is hot or cold? I had the same problem when teh engine was hot... It was the injectors... :mad FMS-24lbs/hr is probably the best replacements.
well if you didnt have the prob before the opti replacement and you have it now.....it's likely it opti related. how does it run when you get it started?
blue/white or black smoke?
if black, you may have to remove and clean the 02 sensors, they foul easily.
good luck findng your prob, i had a similar experience.
regards
doug
Look under your fuel rail cover on the passenger side. There will be a little, greenish, round thing under the fuel rail. This is your fuel pressure regulator (mine looks a little different as it is after market)
There will be a black vaccum line going into the end of it. With the engine running, pull out this vaccum line. If you get gas spraying out, your pressure regulator is bad. Its a 100-150$ part (depending on where you get it) and is about a 15-20 minute fix (just take off the fuel rail, and swap the new one in). Mine had the exact same problems as yours is having, and it turned out to be the pressure regulator.
