FX3 option means driver adjustable Bilstein shocks. There is no better shock system!! Only bad news is there is no substition, other than disabling the fx3 system, and the shocks are expensive.

I didn't realize the FX3's weren't real shocks. Shame on Chevy for fooling me.

do you really want real shock????? buy the damn car. Stripping down the FX3. Prepare to cough out around $1500 for a complete coil over shock.

The FX3 shock can be rebuilt by Bilstein and they even offer custom valving for autocross or track use. IIRC, it's called "Morroca" valving and was developed by a CF member for Bilstein a few years ago.

Call Bilstein at 1-800-537-1085 and ask for Jack French in the tech department. You will find he's very knowledgable about the FX3 system.

Doug Rippie Motorsports has a custom controller for the FX3 system that uses a removeable prom. Proms can be burned to change valving rates between the three postions of the switch. You can have specific setups for autocross and a variety of track conditions.

There is a Forum member who makes a billet aluminum ring gear for the shock actuator. The factory gear is a plastic/nylon piece that gets brittle with age and when it cracks, the only option was to buy a new shock actuator. The electronic portion (a simple motor) hardly ever goes bad.

IMHO, the FX3 system was a great piece of engineering at the time. Custom setups like I mentioned can give you a great shock system for street or competition use.

Would you mind writing that again in English so we could better understand how the FX3 system isn’t good enough for you?

What year are you looking at? If it is a 94 or newer I might be interested in front shocks. Doesn't even have to be good as I am going to send it in and have Bilstein rebuild.

It doesn't matter what year you get, Bilstein replaces the rod. SO you can build 89-91 shocks out to 92-95 spec.
