Idle Speed
I know this is a dumb question, but what is the normal rpm range a stock '85 automatic should be at idle? I ask because mine runs around 500-650 rpms and that seems really low.

You might want to check your IAC pintle and clean it if necessary. Ditto for the throttle body. I make it a point to do this once a year. Really mellows out the base idle.
