You can buy stock, or you can buy a Billet FW.

Hayes & Centerforce are good brands.

I bought a Centerforce for my 4+3, costs a little more but a very nice piece.

There is no stock flywheel that you can use. Whatever it is, it will have to be aftermarket. The 400 fits the two piece seal crankshaft flywheel flange, has the 400 external balance weight, and all 400s came with a 168 teeth. The 168 tooth flywheel won't fit inside of the C4 bell housing. I don't have any advice on the merits of the various aftermarket products. Just that little bit of help on what you need, if you weren't aware.

RACE ON!!!

If it is externally balanced you need the flywheel posted above. If internally, that is the wrong one!

I have a balance plate that we used once before on a different motor, but wasn't sure how critical the flywheel location is concidering the hydraulic throwout, or am I just over thinking it?

no, I was concidering using my 350 internal flywheel w/ balance plate, I just wasnt sure if the added depth of the Balance plate would cause any problems on clutch engagement, not that familliar w/hydraulic clutches, I used a 350 internal flywheel w/balance plate in my 69 vette w/406 and it worked flawless, good balance no vibration.

You will be OK with a PUSH type 4+3 clutch, I used a balance plate which is @ .090" thick with a Centerforce clutch and it was fine with the plate behind the flywheel.

Another note. With a 153 tooth flywheel, you use starter, like your original, not the 400 starter. Most 400 blocks are drilled to accept either starter...except Ralphs (maybe Larry's, too).

RACE ON!!!

Alot of 400's aren't drilled for the straight (153 tooth) starter. Mine has the staggered pattern, but it's no big thing to drill and tap the block. I used my mini-starter (with dual bolt pattern) as a template.
