Well sort of.

I finally got around to cranking the engine after pulling the 80k LT1. I replaced every seal, added headers, LT4 hotcam kit, PCM chip, RT cats, 3" B&B exhaust and an electric waterpump. Went through the prime checklist. I added about 5 quarts of oil, pulled the fuel pump and coil wire to get the oil pressure up. Finally, time to turn it over. It started right away. It sounds great but may have a few bugs to work out.

1) I get a little wining.. Possibly the belt.. I dunno
2) some smoke is coming from the engine bay. Is this normal after an engine re-install?
3) idle is high
4) there's a ticking noise that sounds like its coming from the heads
5) ASR light is on
6) oil pressure is high (70 or so) at idle..

1) not enough info to go on
2) Yes your dirty fingers on the headers is enough to cause some smoke
3) Check for vacuum leaks
4) What type of sound?
5) Check the wiring to the Tach out on the coil and the filrter also check for any codes
6) sound like a bad ground or sensor

I do have a vacuum leak.. I'm on that
Guess I'll have to run the car a bit to get rid of all the steam and smoke
I thought that a new engine has high oil pressure and it gradually goes downafter break-in?

with your new cam install the ticking COULD be a lifter needing a little adjustment.

1) might be an alternator going bad, they will whine (electrically)
2) Paint, grease, oil, coolant all burning off, should stop in 10 minutes or so but look for puddles.
3) As mentioned...vacuum, may also have to reset the IAC.
4) Lifter (already mentioned) or if it is lots of ticks all at once...injectors and that is normal
5) Check all electrical connections.
6) My new engine pegged the oil gauge for a few weeks.

Just keep an eye on that smoke and you should be ok.
