Power Steering Pulley removal?

Default Power Steering Pulley removal?
For the LT1 (early), is there a way to remove the PS pulley without a special tool? The shop manual specifies a special tool which I don't have/not inclined to get.

I'm just trying to swap out the tensioner down there, I have the bolt out but I can't get the part out the top with the PS pulley in the way.

Suggestions?

Auto parts store will rent you the puller for next to nothing, usually just a deposit that you get back when you return the tool.

i bought my steering unit at Merle's Auto,and they swapped the pulley for free. it's not easy to do,a little tricky

Check the sales at Harbor freight. Got mine for about $10, works great.

Don't try to remove pulley without the correct puller. I borrowed one from the manager of the local parts jobber. Check you rental center or local jobbers for a loaner.

don't forget you will also need a PS installer tool. Pep boys has the GM removal/installer kit for reasonable price.......

What Morley said. I got a thing for tools but can't see buying one,at any price, that I will use once especially when I can use one for free.

A bolt and a couple of greased washers works just fine
