After about 20 min running around town I get code 43 so I ran the diagnostic tree as per my factory shop manual and it came up as change ESC module.Changed ESC and still code 43 after about 20 min or so. Rechecked timing and it is set to stock specs.Water temp NEVER!exceeds 210, still code apears.Cleared code by disconnecting ECM power lead for 5 min. and it came back last nite AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG. Tried my friends ECM from his stock 86 vette,it just showed up again . Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance guys
Knock sensor?
1) Open or shorted knock sensor
2) Loose knock sensor
3) Excessive mechanical noise within engine
4) Improper or incorrectly installed PROM or CALPACK in the ECM or defective ECM
5) Intermittent open in the EST line to the ignition module

Yup. Check all those things. When mine occurred it was due to the knock sensor electrical contacts simply being caked with grime and oil. ALWAYS assume the simple!

most likely to be the knock sensor every time I have had a vette in with a code 43 ( ESC ) it has been the knock sensor
