I have been running Lingenfelter headers now for a couple of years and have never been able to get them to seal worth a darn. Currently installing an Innovate wideband kit so I ripped the headers off in an attempt to try and reseal them (for accuracy) and noticed that the pipes stick through the flange about a 1/16 of an inch. Was wondering if anyone elses pipes looked like this or they skipped a step at the factory on mine. I would like to have them milled to a true surface before putting them back on. Just wondering if mine had a unique problem. Also, which gasket style works best with these pipes? I believe the 113 heads are D-ports but the pipes are somewhat rectangular shaped making it difficult to get one gasket style to work correctly. Help greatly appreciated as always!
I ordered the Percy's dead soft aluminum d-ports, however, they say they are for 1992-1997, I know the 1997 is not right. Hopefully they will mate to my 113's alright.

Well the LTx and 113 heads are both D port so it may be fine. But there are various D port sizes available too. You'll know when you get them if they'll work.
i'm curious if other's headers are like that. Because I know mine stick out about 1/16" past the flange like you said your's do (I haven't installed my set yet).

Not necessarily. Even though Corvette's stopped using the LT1 after the '96's, the F-bodies were still a year behind so their '97's had LT1's.
I have Lingenfelter headers on my '88. I used percy's deadsoft aluminum for d-ports and have never had a leak. The primary tubes are welded to the flange on the engine side of the flange. If you mill them flat I think you will have problems with the integrity of the primary / flange connection.

Some headers are made as yours and some, such as my Stainless Works headers and my DRMs are made completely flat.
My Hooker headers are made as you describe. Copper gaskets, 10,000 miles, no leaks, 1 re-tightening after about 500 miles. Here's a good thread on the different gaskets:
My LPE longtubes on my '85 are the same way. No leaks though as long as you do the correct way of tightening and re-tightening procedures for the first few weeks.
I did retighten mine a couple of times, but probably not as often as I should have when I first put them on. How many of you guys used copper RTV and if so on which side of the gasket or both?
Thanks for all the comments!
