I used Elmers clear glue. It is a bonding glue for plastic and vinyl. I applied the glue around the edges, then used duct tape to hold the pad in place. I let it sit for 24 hours, then remover the tape. I was also going to use rubber bands as well, but noticed that where the bands were, they were causing indentations. I did this over one year ago and have not had any problems.
Went to a local canvas repair shop and got some HH-66 vinyl cement made by R-H Products. Cleaned the old cement off and reglued with this stuff. Has held for more than two years now. BTW I had a couple of bad rips in the console pad , mixed this stuff with a little black paint and used it to repair the rips. Not as good as a new pad but you have to look real close to find the rips.
I recently saw a black leather pad cover for the center console that Corvettes of Houston sells, I think either MidAm or Ecklers may have it too. Looked nice in the picture, comes with or without an embossed Corvette logo. It was described as a replacement cover, not something merely set or taped on top.
