Was clearing DTC codes two nights ago, and the next day the car wouldn't start.
Threw a History Code 51 which is resisitor mismatch.
Luckily, I put in a bypass resisitor with hidden switch when I put in my Viper Alarm and auto start since I had the other key's reisitor pellet fry 5 years ago leaving me stranded needing a tow
Waited the mandatory 3 minutes, flipped the switch putting the resisitor in the ignition key read circuit, turned the key and voila, it started instantly
Checked the key pellet and it does show a resisitance of about 37 K ohms, so it's either the alrm relay...doubt it......or the ignition key lock cylinder resistor pellet read contacts...maybe the pellet is worn (too easy)
If your pellet measures over 13k ohms, it is defective as the highest pellet resistance is just under 13k ohms (got the resistance list stored on this computer but I can't find it right now). If you have a spare ign key, measure its resistance.
On my 93, I would turn the key and the starter would not turn over. Waited 15 minutes or so and most of the time it would crank. Left me stranded a few times. Thought it might be the starter, but I had the dealership read the resistor on the key and make new one. It cost $35 for the key versus over $200 for the starter. This cured the problem.
