Default rear gear change

How hard and tedious , does the housing need to be out completely?

I'm pretty good with my tools, but this is one job I leave to the pro's. And yes the rear end must be removed to perform this work. Figure about 5-9 hours for a competent shop that has done it several times...some more, some less of course.......MHO. :blueangel:

the whole rear does have to come out, but there are two ways of doing it.. you can remove all the suspension peices--(hub assemblies, half shafts, etc) or you can just diconnect the gears houseing from the half shafts, lower suspension rods and the driveshaft/c-beam. this will allow just the rear to drop out...

I am in the process of installing 4.10's in my rear and i just dropped everything out of the car to clean/install new u-joint, wheel bearing, outer axles and poly bushings..

I sent the actual gears to a corvette shop to be installed- setting up gears is over my head..

it's not really bad, you just have to take your time and make sure everything is torqued right and you have all the parts ready to go that you want to replace
