speedometer true or false

I would know if your speedometer are correct at high speed? :rolleyes:

I don't know the answer to that for sure. For what it's worth, I encountered one of those police radar speed check trailers a while ago. I made a U turn and timed my car again. In the interests of scientific experimentation, I waited for traffic to clear and then made a second run. My indicated speed on the dash was 91 MPH. The radar display registered 92 MPH. Certainly within the margin of human error for such a test.

I noticed that my speedometer and odometer are about 10% off. I was wondering if it wasn't calibrated
correctly by the factory when they installed the 17" wheel option(?). So if the speedo says 70, I'm really going
about 77mph. I think this is a different problem than you are experiencing...your difference is much less than 10%.

Same here.. there was one in my neighboor hood in a 25 mph zone. I did a little launch practice really late one night to "make sure my speedometer was reading right" :D. I believe the highest I could hit within the 5-6 seconds that I could hold the accelerator down before having to slow down was around 68mph :D. It's funny when that thing starts blinking at 26+mph. I wonder if they record how fast people are driving over the speed limit, because they are NOT going to like what I added to the database :D .... almost tripling the speed limit ..... :crazy:

Oh.. and my speedometer was about .5 mph off... which to me is pretty damn accurate!

They can be tested with a GPS. I have done so and it's right on. The wifes Grand Marquis reads 1 mph low. My 92 has stock tires.

Funny how they put those readers out to try and keep people from speeding, but everytime I see one I see how high I can get the number :D. I did see a sneaker bastard clicking his radar right after one once though.
