Hi all
I searched the threads and found how to get the old motor out of the door. Now that I have the window regulator on the bench it looks simple to drill out the rivets to replace the motor. Question: what have you all used to secure the new motor to the regulator? There is next to no clearance under the regulator gear. I'm thinking flat head machine screws. Thoughts appreciated.
Thanks
I got some new rivets from a chevy dealer for free.
I didn't have a rivet tool big enough to pull through, so I just knocked the centers out and peened the rivets over using a punch and ball peen hammer.
When I had my window regulator out I took it to a chevy dealership and they let me go back into the working area and I paid a tech $20 to take the old rivets out and replace them with the thicker rivets which I did not have.
Whatever you do make sure the screws or rivets holding the motor onto the regulator are very strong... they have to be able to withstand the torque of the motor acouple thousand times a year
