Does anyone on here have an activation key for the datamaster program? I still have 15 datalogs left but would like to keep using it after the free trial is up. If not what is a good ODB1 data-logging program?
personally I thought it was worth the $$$ - but I realized two things shortly afterwards:
#1 You can get an activation key cheaper through AKS cables than directly through TTS (don't ask me why).
#2 If you ever reboot your computer, you're phucked. The activation key is assigned based on multiple hardware variables in your computer - TTS "says" this never changes. But the first time I had to reboot my laptop the reg key changed and they would NOT give me a new key (it was only 6 mo after registering). Because they were di cks about it, I said screw em and wound up setting up a partition on my laptop that I just reinstall whenever the trial period is up. A little legwork for sure, but I'll be damned if I'm going to send them another $100 - no matter how good the software is. BTW, everytime I reinstall the OS on my laptop, that damn registration key is different... Azzholes.

First time I heard that. I hope someone chimes in and explains.

I agree, it has happened to me as well. If you want a hack for it, you can find it by doing a Google search for TTS Datamaster cracks. But you need an early version 3.4.1 in order for the hack to work. Their late version is 3.5.1 so the hack won't work with the new version. Some one I am sure will someday create a new hack for it.
I had the same problem when I lost my key and I had the same issues with them about getting another key. For some reasons they think that there is no way the key can be lost.
Given the issues with TTS Datamaster, why isn't TunerPro RT
by Mark Mansur in greater favour with tuners ?
Does DM offer something TP doesn't? Or is it just that DM came out
first, it is what tuners know/can support and they aren't motivated
to change?
Frankly. I like the look/feel of TP better and it appears to have more
features. It also integrates well with Moates products. Not to mention
that registration is both optional and considerably less money.
I started with datamaster, and it a pretty easy/intuitive program to use. Haven't messed around much with TunerPro's datalogging software but that's what I use to modify the ECM with. It is good stuff, maybe I'll motivate myself to learn the datalogging features.
The next major release of TunerPro (5.0) will have histograms and all the good stuff that TTS has, and it will work much friendlier with the 90 and 91 digital dash vettes (that have chatty ECMs that have, to date, kept TunerPro from working well with them), as well as the LT1s.
It's still a few months out, but good stuff is coming down the pipe.
In fact, at some point in the coming months I'll need to enlist the help of people who have trouble connecting with TunerPro 4.X to test the new scanning engine for me and verify that it connects. If you're willing to do this, let me know offline (mmansur -at_ hotmail).
I'm just curious if in Xp, before you install DataMaster, you create a restore point then once the demo recordings expire, you uninstall datamaster, then restore to that restore point and I wonder if you'll get your 20 recordings back or your key once you re-install again?
another forum member (to remain unnamed) emailed me the trick to "duping" DM... it involves re-editing the registry.
Not sure if a "backup point" in XP would work or not, but I sincerely doubt it. If DM put as much effort into customer service as they did into their anti-hack software, I'd be saying "register it, register it!"
